About Chic
Chic were described as haunting, minimalist pop-funk built around the guitar and bass. Indeed, the New York band was formed, in the mid-70s, by a guitarist and a bassist. Taking disco – the overly pompous, over-produced genre it has become by the late 70s – and stripping it to its basic elements of groove and funk was the secret for Chic's success.
